Estimating lithium-ion battery behavior from half-cell data

The electrochemical behavior of lithium-ion battery electrode materials is often studied in the so-called ‘lithium half-cell configuration’, which tested an cell with a lithium metal acting as both counter and reference electrode. However, performance batteries affected by two electrodes composing battery. Therefore, order to understand under conditions representative commercial applications, it necessary perform measurements ‘full-cell cathode (e.g. iron phosphate or LFP) anode graphite) are combined appropriate capacity ratio. In this work, we provide further understanding how configuration affects response full cell. For that, characterize commercially relevant materials, LFP graphite, half-cells, also vs graphite full-cell. Additionally, employ lithium-half cells predict full-cell, results our calculations very good agreement experimental measurements.
